With all Jacksons legal problems aside who do you think is a better performer and why?

I love them both equally. When I was a kid I used to say I was going to marry Michael Jackson lol.

Well to answer the question, I have to say Michael Jackson because of his dance moves....and besides I dislike Prince

I think the albums released by Michael Jackson are legendary but personally I believe he owes a large part of his great success to Quincy Jones. MJ is a fantastic singer and I have no doubt he played a part in writing his songs, but without the flawless production of his records by Quincy he would have been nothing.

As for the question of MJ or Prince, I'd choose MJ any day, whether or not he's guilty. The guy had talent that has yet to be matched or beaten by any other artist in the music industry today (Fair play to Chris Tucker for his copycat moves, he's pretty slick at them!)... I'm just sorry the guy's career has come to such a bad ending!

Even late in MJ's career he was banging out great songs, like "Earth Song" and "You Rock My World". Prince has been off the major scale for a long time now, and in longevity terms has nowhere near the appeal as MJ.

That's a hard question to answer, they both have earned their places in music history. I dont think Prince really gets given as much credit as he deserves though (well not now anyway), but the guy was great. Having said that, I still listen to Michael Jackson's music more as well as knowing more about him as an artist. jay is right, in terms of longevity, the accomplishments of MJ are hard to look past.

I can't disregard MJ's earlier work though. I just feel like he didnt do anything very worthwhile after Off the Wall.

Prince lost me after Diamonds and Pearls when he got into that semi-preachy jahova's witness stuff.

That said..I caught Prince on his last tour and was lucky enough to get front-row seats..it was probably the most amazing show Ive ever seen... I gotta go with Prince on this.

Mike is past his prime and needs to let it go. He will NEVER match the success of thriller. Prince on the other hand is and will always be the man IMO. What makes him the man is that he reinvents his sound every so often on his own terms. Truth be told I was done with mike when he got rid of Quincy Jones...His music hasnt been right since.
